Everything you need to know about HV1 + Peptides, our formula, and how to get the best results.
Volufiline™ is a patented active ingredient developed by Sederma, a French cosmetic ingredient company. It is derived from Anemarrhena Asphodeloides root extract and is clinically studied for its ability to support visible volume in targeted skin areas.
In a Sederma-conducted ingredient study, participants documented measurable improvements in hydration (+50.6%), visible volume (+15.1%), firmness (+13.3%), and softness (+10.5%) after 28 days of consistent application.†
Sederma's official clinical trials for Volufiline™ were conducted at a 5% concentration. At that strength, in a water-based serum, Volufiline™ becomes heavy, tacky, and slow to absorb — a texture that undermines daily use. Our formulation lab tested concentrations below that threshold and identified 3% as the point where efficacy and wearability meet. HV1 + Peptides is formulated with Volufiline™ at 3%, suspended in 5% Squalane and a heavy, multi-molecular hyaluronic acid base so nothing about the texture is sacrificed for potency. We disclose the concentration, and the reasoning behind it, because it matters.

Higher isn't always better in a finished formula. At 5% in a water-based serum, Volufiline™ turns dense and tacky and absorbs slowly — the kind of texture that can sit on the skin's surface long enough to work against daily use, including a higher likelihood of feeling heavy or congesting on the skin.
Our lab tested concentrations below that threshold and landed on 3% as the point where elasticity support and cosmetic elegance meet. We compensate with 5% Squalane, a lipid that carries the active, improves finish, and locks hydration in place, and a heavy, multi-molecular hyaluronic acid base that does the work of plumping on its own. The result applies like water and finishes like silk, with no compromise on the actives underneath.
Matrixyl 3000™ is a peptide complex developed by Sederma combining Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. These signal peptides communicate with skin cells to support the visible appearance of collagen density and structural firmness over time.
It is one of the most studied peptide systems in cosmetic science. The "+Peptides" in our product name refers specifically to this complex — we name it by name because it has real clinical backing and we stand behind what's in the formula.
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the most extensively studied hydration actives in dermatology. It attracts and binds moisture — capable of holding up to 1,000x its weight in water — which measurably improves skin hydration, elasticity, and surface smoothness.
The Hyalore brand name evolved directly from hyaluronic acid. It is the identity anchor of every formula we develop. But hyaluronic acid holds water at the surface — it cannot rebuild lost structural volume on its own. That's why HV1 + Peptides pairs a heavy, multi-molecular Hyaluronic Acid base at 1% with Volufiline™ and Squalane, so the hydration HA draws to the surface is supported and sealed rather than left to evaporate.
Squalane is a lightweight, non-comedogenic emollient that closely mimics the skin's own natural sebum. HV1 + Peptides includes it at 5%, where it replenishes the skin's lipid layer without clogging pores, providing barrier protection and a soft, non-greasy finish.
It is also the reason a formula carrying a heavy hyaluronic acid base and Volufiline™ still applies like water rather than sitting heavy on the skin. It is particularly beneficial for skin that has been sensitized or compromised by harsh actives like retinol — Squalane helps restore what aggressive skincare takes away.
Ceramide 3 is a lipid molecule critical to maintaining an intact skin barrier. As we age, or when harsh skincare actives are used, ceramide levels in the skin deplete — leading to dryness, sensitivity, and increased irritation.
Including Ceramide 3 in HV1 + Peptides helps reinforce the moisture barrier, reduce transepidermal water loss, and restore skin resilience over time. It is especially important for the retinol-sensitive skin type this formula is designed to serve.
No. HV1 + Peptides is paraben-free. The formula uses Ethylhexylglycerin and 1,2-Hexanediol as its preservation system — one of the cleanest available, used widely in natural and clinical skincare formulations.
We specifically chose this system to avoid the preservative concerns that have been raised about other skincare brands. Your formula is clean from the inside out.
Yes. HV1 + Peptides is formulated for face and lip use. The base formula includes volumizing and hydrating actives that are suitable for the perioral area and lips. Apply 1–2 drops to the lip area and press gently — do not rub.
This dual application makes HV1 + Peptides more versatile than a standard facial serum and extends the visible volumizing benefit to the full face.
In Sederma's clinical study of Volufiline™, measurable improvements in volume, hydration, and firmness were documented within 28 days of consistent daily use. Visible texture improvement is typically reported earlier.
For compounding results — sustained volume, improved skin tone, and structural firmness — consistent daily use through the full 60-day window produces meaningfully better outcomes than short-term use. Individual results vary.
No. This is one of the key distinctions between HV1 + Peptides and retinol-based serums. Retinol works by accelerating skin cell turnover — a process that typically causes weeks of peeling, redness, and increased sensitivity before results appear.
HV1 + Peptides does not operate on a damage model. There is no purging phase, no adjustment period, and no initial worsening. Begin full use from day one.
With consistent daily use you can expect improvements in skin hydration, surface texture, and visible plumpness — particularly in areas where volume has been lost due to aging or barrier damage. The Matrixyl 3000™ peptide complex supports the appearance of firmness and collagen density over time.
HV1 + Peptides is a cosmetic product — it is not intended to treat or reverse aging medically. Results reflect the combined effect of well-studied cosmetic actives used consistently. Individual results vary. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
Apply 3–5 drops to cleansed skin. Press gently into face, neck, and lip area using fingertips — do not rub aggressively. Follow with your moisturizer and SPF in the morning.
Can be used morning and/or evening. No adjustment period. Compatible with all skin types including sensitive.
Yes. HV1 + Peptides layers well under moisturizer and SPF. Apply it after cleansing and toning but before heavier creams or oils.
It is formulated without retinol, AHAs, or BHAs so it does not conflict with most other skincare. If you are actively using retinol, we recommend using HV1 + Peptides on off-nights to give your barrier time to recover — though transitioning away from retinol entirely is what this formula is designed for.
3–5 drops is sufficient for the full face and neck. Using more does not accelerate results. At this rate, a 30ml bottle provides approximately 60–80 applications — roughly a 30–40 day supply with twice-daily use, or up to 80 days with once-daily use.
Yes. HV1 + Peptides is formulated without retinol, parabens, fragrances, or harsh actives that commonly trigger sensitivity. Ceramide 3 and Squalane specifically support skin barrier repair, making this formula well-suited for sensitized skin.
We recommend a patch test on the inner wrist before full facial application, particularly if your skin has been compromised by prior retinol use or environmental stress.
HV1 + Peptides is formulated to be non-comedogenic. Squalane, one of the key carrier ingredients, is widely considered one of the least pore-clogging emollients available. It's also part of why we hold Volufiline™ to 3% rather than the heavier 5% concentration used in Sederma's original research — a lighter, better-absorbed texture is less likely to sit on the skin long enough to contribute to congestion. The formula has been used on oily and combination skin types without reported congestion issues.
As with any new skincare product, a patch test is recommended before full use.
We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before introducing any new skincare product during pregnancy or breastfeeding. While the ingredients in HV1 + Peptides are widely used in cosmetic formulations, your physician is best positioned to advise based on your individual situation.
